We will start with conditioning exercises to prepare body and mind for the magical adventure of learning to belly dance. Then we will map the internal realms inside the body and go over the basic premise of how this dance form is constructed. You will learn how to perform true isolated movement patterns with hips, shoulders, ribs and belly. Then you will be introduced to the other textural movements in belly dance like walking shimmies, hip lifts drops and locks, snaps, scooch, sways and swivels, If there is time left we will introduce a bit of magical veil work.
Dress like you would for a yoga class. Yoga Pants and a sports bras are great. You can wear a skirt instead if you rather. We have the rest of the equipment.
Come enjoy exploring the wisdom of your body!
Weekend workshops? For those who live further out-of town are a good value. We schedule as we have time or if there is a request from dancers. So don’t be shy. Please call and tell us you are interested and we’ll have a class and you will be the first to know.
See you in class!
