Solstice parade, belly dance, persian dance, bollywood, uzbek

DRUMMERS:

There is no fee for this percussive opportunity. Please send in a registration form with your address phones and e mail.

We honor all your time and dedication to the project. However Erik Brown is dedicating all his time to faithfully  directing all events and donations towards his time is gladly accepted. We got a small grant for building supplies.

It’s important that you come to our classes as much as you can so we can rehearse and be tight. Your job is more involved this year. It’s going to be very fun. We will be outside and indoors if it rains!

You should have some drum experience and your own instrument. Also a sistrum percussion instrument. We may make these.

You will learn to play the rhythms to accompany Bollywood, Persian, Egyptian and Uzbek.

You will have drums only sections in the parade as well.

You will learn a few simple choreographed dance steps to do while you play so don’t miss class.

Volunteers are asked to come to Sundays May 6 Drum Intro (5PM) and Monday 7 th 7:30 Special Introduction Class for Bollywood Uzbec & Persian.
Tuesday Class dates May 8, 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12
Wednesday Class Dates May 9, 16, 23, 30 June 6, 13
Thursday Costume and Props Workshops: May 17, 31 June 7

DRESS REHEARSAL IS MANDATORY Thursday June 14

Parade is June 16 10AM dressed and ready to go.
There is no fee to be in our drum ensemble but we do ask for voluntary donation to cover time for our music director and materials costs for sound conveyance equipment and props.

• Grant for music amplification: We need to build a rolling cart to house speakers, amp and a generator to power music for out door rehearsals as well as in the actual parade. Ken Hartford will be directing the build. We can use more volunteers!
