Modern Egyptian with Elisa Gamal

Elisa_Casbah_red

This series is a progressive  combination/choreographed class with detailed and  systematic breakdowns. Emphasis on character, self  expression combination movements & skill  development (The whole picture)

The rest of the class time will be spent  on running  these dances in 2 groups so you can watch as well as  participate.

Each class is a separate and complete unit. It  facilitating a mix of levels and is not dependent on  having to memorize something the week before. This  format allows for drop-ins.

Please don’t feel you will be lost if you get sick and have to miss a class. Come to class!
Beginners will feel at home in the first part of class and more advanced dancers are using this time in class reviewing and warming up mind and body.

Intermediate and Advanced dancers will feel more challenged by the second part of class and we want to remind beginners and intermediates that standing to the side line and watching is just as important (if not more) and educational as doing the dance.

HINT: Often if the teacher is demonstrating and the student is moving at the same time they can’t really hear and perceive what the teacher is actually saying and demonstrating. So keep your attention up and you will learn faster and be a lovely belly dancer!

Student decorum:

STUFF:  Please use our dressing area. Do not put shoes, purses, back packs and water bottles in dance studio space. Keep it clear. Put everything in the dressing room on the nice new rack we bought. If everyone puts there stuff in the active dance space, it’s a mess and no one can use benches for observation. Teachers also need to follow this request. Drink water before class and simply step inside if you need to refresh yourself. Teachers use shipping room.

GUM: We request you not chew gum in class it is very counterproductive to learning and focusing on body movement as well as dangerous.

WATER: We provide bottles water but we charge for it. Sorry, but running a dance studio is not easy. Every penny counts towards studio overhead. We really appreciate every sales of merchandise in our little store: costumes, sports wear, hip scarfs, DVDs CDs, Power Belly weight belts and crafts dancers donate to keep the studio alive! One way to think about spending money in our studio is every dollar you spend as a vote for whats important to your life! Vote for us! Vote for art, creativity and expression. Vote for women’s self empowerment and health. Please feel free to shop in our store and we thank you!

CLOTHES: Wear comfortable clothing: leggings, yoga pants, skirts, hip scarfs, sports bras, leotards. We usually dance with bare feet or a very brief foot glove. Brink a towel. Lock valuables in trunk rather than bring them in.

NOTE: We have water and small snack convenience bar in the dressing room.
