BellyCon (stands for belly Dance Consciousness) is a fully engaged
effort to bring belly dance awareness to the public! This year it starts
on Friday, June 13th and goes past the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade (Saturday
June 21st) to Satruday June 28th.

5:00–7:30pm LIVE Drum Solo
with Delilah & Erik
for Advanced Dancers (limited to 8 dancers)
Cost: $60
This is your opportunity to get one on one experience with
the drum solo and understand its structure. This course makes a huge difference
in the dancers evolution! (Class may go as late as 8:15pm if class is full)

9:00–11:00pm Delilah and House of Tarab Trance
Dance Concert
Cost: $25 at the door. FREE CD's
for first 20 to sign up.

will be some snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring your own.
There will be no chairs. Everyone participates. Part
concert, part party and part classroom. House of Tarab is a 6 piece
acoustic Middle Easter ensemble.

1:30–3:30pm Veil Therapy
with Delilah (2hr)
Cost: $25
No belly dance experience necessary. This
dance is not part of traditional belly dance. Invented by Delilah about
12 years ago. It's a beautiful unique and creative movement process everyone
can enjoy! This is for dancers, teachers, therapists, and spiritual teachers.
To veil and unveil is a powerful act. This is a very special class to learn
a healing and rejuvenation use of veils. Once you learn the refinements.
It’s
a wonderful thing to share with children, elderly, pregnant women, husbands
and each other. Delilah teaches this at her retreats in Hawaii. Now’s
your chance to learn it here in Seattle.

3:30–5:00pm Intro to Middle Eastern Drum with Erik Brown (1.5hr)

The Middle Eastern hand drum is sometimes called a
tabla, dumbek, darbooka, It is a goblet shaped drum that is at the heart
of the middle eastern music. It's a relatively inexpensive instrument to
learn and an easy instrument to carry around places. It does take learning
from the beginning he correct habits so you can progress efficiently (and
of course practice). Erik is a patient and effective instructor. He studies
with drummers all over the world. Drumming is great for teens and seniors.
It's a fun way for the significant others of belly dancers to take part in
belly dance world. We need more drummers every June for the parade and other
events! Drumming is very grounding and centering for the soul. A
class will result if there is enough interest on Tuesday evenings 7:30-8:45.

Kick Ass Zagareet! Part 1 with Jane Hall (30min)

Learn how to sound like a real tribesman! Practice for a week
and return for part 2. Prize awarded for best zagareet at part 2! Jane hall
plays Riq with the band House of Tarab and is famous for her amazing zagareets!

SOLSTICE PARADE and STREET FAIR!
This year the theme for the belly dancers in the Solstice Parade is Pink
is for Peace. Our dancing cause is dedicated toward balancing
the world with the power of female belly energy. We call upon Aphrodite
in a healing and attractive display of living sensuality. Aphrodite holds
the door open towards love, beauty, nurturance and persuasion thus negotiation
and WORLD PEACE!

6:15–9:15pm Beginning Egyptian Workshop with Dahlia
Moon (3hr)

Dance history, music and back ground, demonstration and learn practical skills.
Review or get a jump start into the basics of Modern Egyptian style belly
dance with award winning performer Dahlia Moon. Then continue on with her
very popular Wednesday night courses.

6:15–8:15pm Dancing in a Sea of Honey: a workshop
with Christine (2hr)

weekly classes are Wednesday afternoon. Suitable for all levels of dancers.
A two hour workshop focusing on extremely slow movement in belly dance; exercises
and images to maintain intensity and focus. Dreamlike, ritualistic movement
- think Tai Chi or Butoh, but belly dance. Ultra-slow movements can showcase
faster movements and add layers to your performance. Explore interior space
with Christine.
