Delilah's 4 Week Accelerated Belly Dance Course - Mondays:
Beginning and/or Intermediate level
April 28, May 5, 12, & 19 2008
This is a good class for absolute beginners as well as dancers who have started recently or want to refresh their skills. It's also a great refresher course for returning students!
Class for the first 2 weeks will be 2 1/2 hours long, each class. This is so we can get most of the basic goals and concepts down. The second 2 weeks will be 1 1/2 hours each, consisting of practice and perfecting, as well as introducing new concepts. We will work with finger cymbals, and veil. If you take this class, we hope you will feel like joining Delilah in the Solstice Parade!
(Delilah's Parade Class is a separate course on Tues. or Wed. in May).
Note about the Parade Class:
The parade moves are simple and short choreographies. Because we are outdoors and on the street there are many limitations to what we can do. It's incredibly fun!
And, of course, it's an excuse to wear a costume, show off and generate belly awareness! However, you do need to know how to hold your frame, travel and feel comfortable with new ways of moving. Come on, you can do it!
Class 1, April 28
- 5:45 - 6:15 Registration and Shopping (10% discount). You will need finger cymbals, hip scarf, a veil and music to practice to for this course
- 6:15 - 8:45 FAST HIPS: basic alignment, baladi rhythm, finger cymbals, shimmies, and traveling steps
- 8:45-9:00 Shopping and talking.
Class 2, May 5
- 6:00 - 6:15 Shopping and stretching
- 6:15 - 8:45 SLOW DANCE: Cheftetelli rhythm, arms and hands, walking undulations, and veil work
Class 3, May 12
- 6:00 - 6:15 Shopping and stretching
- 6:15 - 7:45 DRUMS and ZILLS
Class 4, May 16
- 6:00 - 6:15 Shopping and stretching
- 6:15 - 7:45 DANCE SET: Fast Slow Fast!
8 hours of excellerated belly dance! Yahoo!

How to register
Please download and print our registration form, fill it out and send it
in with a check. We also have a mail slot on the studio far door. Sorry, we do not take credit cards for classes.
Note: Our mail is being received but because much of our staff is in Egypt until the April 7 - 23rd, you will not receive a notice of your registration until the Friday before. If you send your registration in, you will be in the class. Often (except in rare instances) there is space available the day of class. But if you wish to drop-in, please call that day to be sure.

Parking:
Please do not park in rear of building because it belongs to the apartments. There is plenty of street parking in the area.
There is also a bus stop on our block. Wear comfortable clothes (as you would for a yoga class). We dance bare foot. On week 2,
try not to wear sleeves.
Class Accessories
Any equipment you will need for this class you may buy the day of class, or come in on the Friday or Saturday before.

Our Shop
We try to make everything you need to learn belly dance available, and of a decent quality for durability and performance.
Belly dance music is important and we host a wide selection of music CD's. Instructional DVD's are our specialty and they are
like valuable text books to the dance each are 3 hours in length and come with print media as well.
We also have bottled water and a small convenience snack bar in-house. We greatly appreciate your patronage. The overhead to run a dance studio in the City of Seattle with wide open space is huge, and all our sales are important to our staying a float.

Absolute Beginning Belly Dance Workshops
Each one is a 4 hour workshop geared for beginners.
Take one or both workshops. They are not dependent on one another.
May - Absolute Beginning Belly Dance (ABB) Workshop:
Sunday May 18th
This class introduces you to the world of belly dance. From it’s ancient past to it’s modern day interpretations. The foundation of basic alignment for executing the isolated body illusions in the dance. Slow hip moves, Exotic hands, simple shimmies and texture movements.
Time: 10:00-2:00 PM (4 hours)
Cost: $100 includes an Instructional DVD (3 hours long), $90 with 3 day advance registration.
All you need is something comfortable to dance in. Avoid baggy shirts and sleeves
June - Absolute Beginning Belly Dance (ABB) Workshop:
Saturday June 14th (part of Belly Con*)
This class will introduce the art of belly dance as an ancient body language. Once forgotten but easy to reawaken. Drum rhythms call the body. Melodies make it sing.
Time: 10:00-2:00 PM (4 hours)
Cost: $100 includes an Instructional DVD (3 hours long), $90 with 3 day advance registration.

June - Mother-Daughter-Sister and Friend 2 Hour Workshop:
Saturday June 28th (part of Belly Con*)
Learn about the fun thats behind why so many women belly dance these days. All ages Shapes sizes colors and walks of life. We will learn so simple circle dances.
Time: 10:00-12:00 PM (2 hours)
Cost: $50 includes an Instructional DVD (3 hours long)
Bring a friend. $40 each if you sign up in tandem 3 days in advance.

June is a big month for belly dancers here in Fremont due to their participation in the Fremont Solstice Parade. On the week leading up to the parade we host Belly Con which stands for Belly Dance Consciousness. We strive to hold classes taught by the Pacific Northwest's best instructors. This year we are sponsoring it after the parade as well!
