It is very important and quite an honor to have dancers join us from around the nation and even other countries. You will be studying a simpler dance choreography given online and via a special DVD instruction.
To make it worth your while to join us we have a few perks:
Belly Dance Sister Home Stay Program; Seattle dancers volunteer to host a dancer from out of town. We will also have a list of recommended places to stay that are close by the studio and the Fremont area.
June 9-18 2006 Visionary Dance presents Billion Belly Convergence (a.k.a BELLYCON)
A week of daily special dance workshops taught be a bevee of belly dance instructors. Check it out! Details when ready will be linked to the main menu.
How to Join the Billion Belly March:
Each dancer sends in a registration form and commitment fee. We will send a password to the Parade Dancers Web Club that will show the up-to-date dance plan and a choreography DVD (when available around mid-May). Each dancer will receive weekly email updates. Everyone will be expected to come together in a giant rehearsal on Thursday night, June 15th in Seattle where all groups are to be present.

Don’t worry the choreography will be simple. What is most important is we want to look good and easily plug everyone into the massive group of dancers. Different groups will be doing different things at different times to the same rhythms. The goal is to illustrate simple, clear, and typical belly dance movement that will also convey the heart and soul of the spirit of belly dance. There are group dances that everyone will participate together in as well.
We are asking different contingents to wear certain color schemes so we don't blend in with the crowd, and it will be easy to see from a distance, but the actual design is up to the individual: Tribal, Gypsy, Cabaret, Fantasy.
If you live in Seattle you can choose to join The Out-of-Town Contingent. They will be studying a simpler plan online and via DVD instruction and then be expected to rehearse on Thursday Night June 15 in Seattle with all groups present.
We will need a permit for this rehearsal!
